Special events

Valentine's Day February 14

We will be open for dinner Tuesday, February 14, for Valentine's Day. Chef Ed will be preparing our regular menus some special specials, including Naked Lobster.

Whiskey & Beer Tasting February 22

We will provide the whiskey and Ship Inn will provide the beer for a Whiskey & Beer Tasting at the Lovin' Oven in Frenchtown, from 6 to 9 p.m. The event, which will also include food stations and passed appetizers, plus music by Arboretum, will cost $65 a person and will benefit Hunterdon Land Trust Winter Market. Call the Lovin' Oven at 908-996-7714 for reservations.

Rotary Soup Cook-Off February 27

Chef Ed will compete once again in the Hunterdon County Rotary Soup Cook-Off at Hunterdon Central Regional High School from 4:30 to 7 p.m. For an admission of $10 and a can of food for the food pantry, soup-lovers may taste sample-size cups of the competing soups, and vote for thier choice. Rolls and dessert will be prepared by Polytech Culinary Arts students. Cook-off proceeds will be donated to the food pantries of Hunterdon County to fight hunger in Hunterdon County.

Oysters & Champagne

What could be more elegant than a Night of Oysters & Champagne? The day after Thanksgiving and the third Friday in April are the two nights set aside for enjoying some of nature's most decadent treats.

Chef Ed will choose fresh oysters based on what is best in the market at the time of the event. Each oyster is paired with a unique champagne or sparkling wine, available by the glass.

Pricing for the oysters and sparkling wine is by the piece. This enables you to take advantage of what suits your taste and pocketbook. If you just want to sample champagnes, you can. If you just want to eat oysters, you can. If someone in your group doesn't like either, our full dining room menu and tavern menu are also available. Reservations are highly recommended for the dining room.

Farm Dinner

We serve local produce as it's available throughout the seasons, but at our annual Farm Dinner to benefit Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance the local produce — and the farmers who produce it — take center stage. This fixed-price, multi-course dinner is composed by Chef Ed around what's available at the Alliance's Farm Market at Dvoor Farm in Flemington.

Tiki Thursdays

Each Thursday in August out back of the Oyster House is transformed into a tropical paradise we call Tiki Thursday. Tiki Thursdays are a chance to kick back, relax, and enjoy the best of summer. Frozen drinks reign supreme at the Tiki Bar. Chef Ed uses fresh fruit to concoct at least two different fresh frozen drinks each week, and there are special Polynesian-themed Tiki snacks, as well. We set up full-service table seating outside, which is available on a first-come first-served basis.

Also part of the Tiki mix is live music by local musicians from 7 until 10 p.m.

Christmas in Milford

Christmas in Milford is a special town-wide event. After the outdoor activities downtown we invite you to come back to the Oyster House and warm up in the comfort of the dining room or tavern. Free hot chocolate is offered to anyone who cares to indulge.

Amy brings her harp and plays Christmas music and other classical favorites in the dining room. Of course, the restaurant is decorated with our hand-made oyster shell ornaments and wreaths. We have two trees, one filled with food-themed ornaments. The dining room is still a joyous place to relax with friends during the holiday season.
